Pim Arends

Lives and works in Rotterdam

Pim Arends uses mass-media images as a starting point for his visual study of contemporary life. Those images are meant to be very attractive and call our attention. Pim plays around this by painting colourful and attractive images to ‘lure’ people into looking at his work. People are trapped by the bright joyous colours and fail to see what the topic is actually about.

Born in 1982 in Rotterdam  (The Netherlands)
Fine art Academy Degree in Painting - Willem de Kooning in Rotterdam (2007)
‘Kunstpoort Noord’ at Atelier Ripken,
‘Winner of the Jury Award’, Rotterdam 2009-
